1. How to replace seals
The rod seals, piston seals, and cylinder static seals of qø20~ø40 are replaceable.
CBG1 series
Rod seals, piston seals, cylinder static seals, and locking piston seals of ø20~ø40 are replaceable. Only the locking piston seal ring can be replaced for ø50~ø100. When replacing other seals, please confirm with our salesperson.
2. Disassembly and reinstallation of the cylinder
The disassembly and assembly of the cylinder need to be carried out in a clean environment. Please put a clean cloth on it before proceeding.
When disassembling, use a vise to gently clamp the two wide parts of the cylinder cover. Use a safety hand, a movable safety head, etc. to loosen the two wide parts of the rod side end cap and remove it. When reinstalling and tightening, tighten 0~2° more than the removed position.
Above ø50, the tightening torque is too large and cannot be disassembled. If disassembly is necessary, please confirm with our company.
Please note that the single-acting type has a built-in spring, so there is a risk of the end cap flying out.
CG5·S series
The threaded portion at the joint between the end cover and the cylinder barrel maintains airtightness due to the sealant. When disassembling the cylinder, the previous sealant must be completely removed, and when reassembling, new sealant must be reapplied. (Equivalent to thread sealant 542 (medium strength)
3. Regarding the disassembly of seals
1. Rod seal
As shown in Figure 1, insert a precision screwdriver or other sealing ring from the front of the end cover and remove it. Note: Be careful not to damage the installation groove of the end cover sealing ring when taking it out. If the water-resistant wiper ring is worn, please replace the rod side end cap assembly. In this case, please consult our salesperson.
2. Piston sealing ring
Start by wiping off the grease around the piston seal. This makes it easier to compare.
Since the piston sealing groove is deep, it cannot be disassembled with a precision screwdriver. Instead, push it along one side of the sealing ring periphery to the other side as shown in Figure 3 until the sealing ring protrudes from the sealing groove and can be removed.
3. Cylinder static sealing ring
Remove with a precision screwdriver.
4. Static sealing rings for valve seals and valve retainers (only air buffer type)
Refer to Figure 4 and disassemble it with a precision screwdriver.
5. Lock piston seal (end lock part)
GBG1 series
a. Insert the manual screw from above the rubber cover of the end lock unit. (−※Not required for L lock type)
b. Take out 2 hexagon socket screws and pull out the end lock unit.
c. Remove the locking piston sealing ring of ø20~ø63.
d. Remove the seal retainer and locking piston seal of ø80 and ø100.
4. Installation of sealing ring
1. Rod seal
When installing the sealing ring, do not reverse its direction. , apply grease to the inner circumference of the sealing ring and guide sleeve. In addition, if the diameter is small, please use a precision screwdriver to apply.
2. Piston sealing ring
Apply grease after installation. It is required that the inside and outside of the sealing ring groove be fully greased.
3. Cylinder static sealing ring
Install into the cover.
4. Static sealing rings for valve seals and valve retainers (only air buffer type)
See Figure 4 and install it to the designated location.
Note: After assembly, the SMC stainless steel cylinder must be inspected for operation and air tightness to confirm that there are no abnormalities.
