Do you know these cylinder facts?

Cylinder is used every day. When it comes to selection and use, everyone must be very familiar with it, and can even share many of their experiences. To be sure, there is still some knowledge that I have ignored. Today I have compiled some of them. Maybe you already know some of them, but you might as well review them and learn something new.

1. Keep a distance between parallel cylinders

The distance between the cylinder tubes of two parallel cylinders must be greater than 40mm, otherwise the magnetic switches of the two cylinders will interfere with each other and cause malfunction.

2. Keep the magnetic switch wiring as short as possible

The length of the wiring has no effect on the function, but if the wiring is too long, the current will be very large when the switch is turned on, shortening the service life of the switch. If the wiring must be very long, more than 5 meters, a contact protection box must be used.

3. Precautions for use in special environments

1. In a strong magnetic environment, use a switch cylinder with strong magnetic field resistance;

2. In situations where there is a lot of dust, water droplets or oil droplets, a telescopic protective sleeve should be used on the cylinder rod side;

3. If there is iron powder and iron filings nearby, if not protected, the magnet will attract the iron powder and iron filings to gather around it, weakening the magnetic force in the cylinder, and possibly causing the magnetic switch to not operate.

4. Note - the shaft of the single-axis cylinder will rotate

Unless it is an anti-rotation single-axis cylinder, the shaft of the single-axis cylinder will rotate during movement, which may cause the bolt connection of the piston rod head to loosen.

5. The piston rod must not be subject to radial force

The piston rod can only be subjected to axial push and pull force. Do not let it be subjected to lateral force because the rod is thick and strong. Once subjected to lateral force, the guide rod and the inner wall of the cylinder tube will produce strange forces, which will greatly shorten the service life of the cylinder.

If there is radial force, be sure to add guide rods or slide rails for assistance, or directly choose a cylinder with slide rails and guide rods. Cylinders with built-in guide rods and slide rails are generally more expensive than their own version, but they are much smaller in size. Just choose according to the specific situation.

6. The cylinder movement should be protected

Cylinders can easily injure people, and a large cylinder diameter can directly cause disability or even death. If there is no safety grating on the outside of the machine, protection must be provided where the cylinder moves.

7. Additional buffering is important

When the driven object has a large mass and a fast speed, the cylinder's own buffering capacity is generally insufficient. We must add an external hydraulic buffer or set up a deceleration circuit to assist in decelerating and stopping.

8. Cylinders with guide rods must not be used as gear points

There is a special blocking cylinder for the gear point. Do not think that a cylinder with a guide rod can also be used as a gear point. It cannot withstand radial impact. If you use it as a gear point within a few months, the guide rod will loosen, causing Inaccurate positioning.

9. A support should be designed in the middle of the long-stroke cylinder

A support should be designed in the middle of a long-stroke cylinder to overcome the sagging of the piston rod, the downward bending of the cylinder barrel, and the damage to the piston rod caused by vibration and external loads.

10. Fully consider the impact of power and gas outages and cylinder malfunction

Especially for the clamping cylinder, if there is a sudden power or gas outage when transporting things, if there are no protective measures, it may cause the transported objects to fall, smash the machine or damage the product. If you want to prevent the cylinder from malfunctioning due to power outage, you can choose a double-coil solenoid valve, which can maintain the original movement of the cylinder in the event of a power outage.

11. The piping between the cylinder and the solenoid valve should not be too long

If the piping between the cylinder and the solenoid valve is too long, the gas will not be easily discharged and replaced, and condensation will easily form over time.

12. Prevent loosening in vibration situations

If the cylinder is used in an environment with high working intensity and large vibration, pay attention to the design, installation screws and various connection links to prevent them from loosening.

13. Cylinder Lubrication

Today's cylinders are generally pre-greased, so there is no need to add lubricating oil. But once lubricating oil is added, the oil supply cannot be stopped, because the pre-added grease may be washed away, and failure to add lubricating oil will causeCylinderis malfunctioning.
