Working principle of three-position cylinder

The simplest combination is to use two cylinders - the bottom cylinder has a short stroke and the outer cylinder has a long stroke. Combined (connected in series) they form a three-position cylinder (twoThe piston rod of the cylinder is in direct contact. The action principle is:

1. When the two cylinders are fully retracted, the cylinder position is 1;

2. For the cylinder located at the bottom of the series cylinder, when the piston rod with the short stroke extends, the piston rod of the cylinder with the long stroke is pushed to position 2;

3. In this state, the long-stroke cylinder piston is driven again and completes the remaining stroke to position 3.

The three-position pneumatic actuator is a special specification actuator that provides three positions of 0°, 45°, 90° or 0°, 90°, and 180°. mode of operation. The intermediate position is achieved by mechanical braking generated by the movement of two auxiliary pistons. The middle position is adjustable. For example, a 90° stroke actuator can provide intermediate positions of 20°, 30°, 50°, 70°, etc.

1. Fully closed position. As shown in Figure 1, the fully closed position is achieved after the air source enters port 4 and the air is exhausted from port 2.

2. Fully open position. As shown in Figure 2, the fully open position is achieved after the air source enters port 2 and port C at the same time, and the air is exhausted from port 4 and port D.

3. Middle position. As shown in Figure 3, the intermediate position is achieved after the air source enters port 2 and port D respectively, and the air is discharged from port 4 and port C. In the process of achieving the intermediate position, the air source is supplied to port D, forcing the auxiliary piston to move toward the center, and the push rod serves as a mechanical limit to stop the internal piston at the set intermediate position.
